One 35mm Olympus camera, hundreds of meters of self-processed bulk-bought black & white Ilford FP4 film, six home-made darkrooms, and about 55,000 negatives taken between 1990 and 2002.

One laptop, one film scanner, and a 10 week scanning project of 1270 selected images in 2018. A 14 month retouching project, Feb 2018 - April 2019.

There are 17 photography projects which underpin my photography work.

Here are the first two:

The York Years (1990-1991)

After leaving school I did an Art Foundation Course at York College of Arts and Technology. I lived in a small, damp cottage on a farm with five others.

The Leicester Years (1992-1995)

Leicester Polytechnic became a university in my second year. I lived on Stuart Street with four others. I didn’t get onto the photography course as it was full, but I was free to use their darkrooms. I began to take a big interest in photography once I discovered this.
